Dr. Ibrahim Abu Muhammad



Dr. Ibrahim Abu Muhammad

He is former Grand Mufti of Australia and he was appointed to the role of Shariah Advisor to MCCA in April 1992. He is a leading authority in Islamic finance in Australia, and holds a Masters Degree from the College of Usuluddin and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) (gained with high distinction) from the Al-Azhar University. Dr. Ibrahim Abu Muhammad is one of the founders and current director of Al Quran Al Kareem Radio of Australia. He has taken parts in many international and national conferences, panels and forums. Dr. Ibrahim Abu Muhammad has published several works, including the recently published second edition of his book 'Invitation to Contemplate', which has been translated into English and French.

  Sheikh Wissam


Sheikh Wissam Zaatiti

Sheikh Wissam Zaatiti was appointed to the role of Shariah Advisor in September 2009. He holds qualifications in Islamic Origin and Fiqh obtained from the faculty of Shariah at the Islamic University in Medina al Munawwarah (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). Sheikh Wissam is currently the executive manager of The Light of Islam Association based in Melbourne, Australia. Over the last 10 years, Sheikh Wissam has held various executive management positions within the Islamic Institute, a division of the Islamic Society of Victoria, where he was involved in the establishment of the Qur'an Kareem Radio station. Sheikh Wissam has many years experience in Shariah law and was instrumental in the establishment of the Shariah Law Institute in Lebanon.




Dr. Shabbir Ahmed

Dr. Shabbir Ahmed was appointed to the role of Shariah Advisor in September 2014. He is the president of Al-Tadhkeer Society, working on the building of Masjid Qubaa and School.
Dr Shabbir Has:
•   PhD in Islamic Studies from the Jaamiat ul Uloom il Islamiyah 1991, Karachi, Pakistan
•   PhD in Islamic Culture from the University of Sind 1993, Pakistan.

Dr Shabbir is member of:
•   Member of Australian National Imam council (ANIC).
•   Coordinator of Moon-sighting Committee of Australia.

Almir Colan

Almir Colan was appointed to the role of Shariah Advisor in January 2017, he is a Director of Australian Centre for Islamic Finance (AusCif), Director at Awqaf Australia, Careers Counsellor at Ilim College (Melbourne) and Board member at Garden College (Adelaide). Almir is also an adviser to number of institutions that provide Islamic finance and member of a working group at AAOIFI.

Previously, Almir was a consultant lecturer and board member for the Master of Islamic Banking and Finance Course at La Trobe University; Advisory Board Member for the Master of Islamic Banking and Finance Course at La Trobe University; Member of the Advisory Reference Group for the Bachelor of Accounting/Associate Degree of Accounting at NMIT; Executive board member at Islamic Council of Victoria (ICV);

Almir holds an MBA from Deakin University and a Master of Islamic Banking and Finance degree from La Trobe University for which he was awarded the Dean’s Commendation for Academic Excellence and the Logie-Smith Lanyon Lawyers Prize.
